There are approximately 360 species of Artemisiagiles (Pelinotugiller) belonging to the subgroup of compounds and are divided into four main groups. These; It is possible to divide it into four as Abrotanumgiller (black Pelican), Absinthiumgiller (Bitter Wormwood), Dracunculus (Extragillier) and Seriphidiumgiller

Although they are from the same family, Bitter Wormwood, Black Wormwood, Extragon, Horasan grass, Sima grass and Common wormwood, which are among the Artemisiagiles, it is useful to examine them separately since they have different uses and contain different compounds.

a) Etheric oil derivatives between 0.2-1.5%; 1) Monoterpenes (-) – Thujon (? -Thujon) (+) – Izothujon (ß-Thujon), Thujylalkol, Pinen, Cadinen, Phellandren, Sabinol, Acetylester, Izovaleryester and Palmitylester. 2) Sesquiterpenes; ? – Bisabololi- ß- Carcumen, Artemisin, Pelinlacfon, Sanfonin and Pseudosantonin Depending on the country of cultivation and climate, the wormwood sometimes contains C-Epoxyocimen (Italy), trans-Sabinylacetate (France) and Chrysanthenyacetate (France) instead of the main ingredient Thujon.

b) The bitter substances are between 0.15-0.5% and the most important ones are Sesquiterpenlacton derivatives; Contains Absinthin 0.25%, Artabsin 0.1% and small amounts of Matricin, Hydroxypelenolit, Ketopelenolit A and B, Absintholit, Artanolite, Arabsin and Anabsinthin. Anabsinthin is formed from the transformation of absinthin if it is not dried properly, and Matricin can transform into Chamazulene and give a bluish color to Wormwood oil or tincture, but is generally greenish or yellowish brown in color.

c) Flavonites; Rutin contains Compferol and Quercetinglycosides as well as Lipophil (fat breaker) Flavon Artemisitin (3,3, 4, 5, 6, 7- Hexamethoxyflvon).

d) Sterols; Stigmasterol, ß- Sitosterol

e) Also; Contains Potassium Nitrate, Manganese, Tanin 5-7%, Resin, Malic acid, Amber acid, Vitamins C and B2.

Researches; In studies conducted on humans and mice, it was found that wormwood tea, tincture or natural medicine contributes to the whole digestive system and increases stomach, liver, pancreatic and intestinal secretions.
