Today, artificial intelligence is widely used in the selection of embryos, especially in in vitro fertilization. The Smart PGT method is the most advanced form of the NGS test, which provides the opportunity to choose the embryo with the highest adherence potential by using artificial intelligence and increases the chance of pregnancy, and is used for detailed genetic examination.
Smart PGT is a detailed examination of the healthy chromosome numbers and structures of embryos obtained in IVF treatment before being transferred to the mother’s womb using a system in which artificial intelligence is also engaged. Thanks to Smart PGT, possible chromosomal abnormalities in embryos can be detected before the embryos are transferred to the uterus. Smart PGT application is a successful method that increases the chance of pregnancy and a healthy birth, especially in older mothers and women with recurrent miscarriages.
Smart PGT advantages
For couples with a history of abortion and infertility, the purpose of using the Smart PGT method before implantation is to identify chromosomally abnormal embryos. In this way, abnormal embryos are not transferred to the uterus and the possibility of a successful pregnancy is increased.
Today, modern practices necessitate the transfer of a single healthy embryo in IVF. A high level of reliability can be achieved in embryo selection with artificial intelligence.
With the Smart PGT method, the accuracy rate increases, more healthy embryos are selected, the success rate increases, the miscarriage rate decreases, and the live birth rate increases.
Application areas of Smart PGT
It can be applied to women who will be 38 years of age and older and optionally in all age groups. It can be done if there is a chromosomal problem in one of the spouses. The Smart PGT method is preferred in patients with recurrent IVF failures and couples with recurrent pregnancy loss.
Eggs collected in classical IVF treatment are combined with sperm by applying microinjection method on the same day and the obtained embryos are followed up to the blastocyst stage. The biopsy process is performed on the trophoectoderm layers of the embryos that are suitable for biopsy, cell samples are taken and then the embryos are frozen one by one. After genetic analysis, the embryo with normal chromosomal sequence is detected and frozen embryo transfer is made.
The importance of artificial intelligence
The chromosomally unhealthy embryo reduces the chance of adhering to the uterus, that is, the possibility of conception. In addition to the risk of losing with miscarriage, the risk of being born with health problems such as Down Syndrome increases. Thanks to Smart PGT, the chance of a successful and healthy pregnancy increases.
