Dr. Gökçen Çatlı Özen said, “In addition to creating a culture of fear in societies, the epidemic has brought many events with it. We see that the epidemic, which has started to spread through healthcare professionals, affects society and individuals psychologically at an extreme level these days. The epidemic psychologically affected all age groups. Due to the inability to be together with the society and the process of having similar faces in the same house, people moved away from each other. We will see more psychological phenomena from now on. Humanity acts together with society. “Human beings are not a living creature that produces culture alone and acts alone.”
“INCREASES IN NEGATIVE BEHAVIOR TOWARDS CHILDREN”
Expressing that people are happy or unhappy with the society, Gökçen Çatlı Özen said, “The necessity of staying between four walls with the epidemic and staying away from the crowd while on the street brought great psychological problems with it. There are significant increases in domestic violence. There has also been an increase in negative behavior towards children. There were large numbers of violence in the pre-epidemic period, too. However, with the epidemic, the fact that people are within the four walls has further increased this tendency to violence. Divorces have increased significantly. “The epidemic had a devastating effect on family values.”
“WE SHOULD LEARN HOW TO LIVE WITH THE OUTBREAK”
Stating that the epidemic affected many institutions with the effect of domino stone, Dr. Gökçen Çatlı Özen said, “Outbreaks have existed since history. How to live with the epidemic? How is the immune system strengthened? How to be in the social sphere despite the epidemic? We need to learn these. momentum was gained about the vaccine in the world and Turkey. But there are societies in Third World countries that cannot be overcome. We see that there are serious problems in the justice mechanism of the world. During the epidemic, the alpha generation was left very comfortable on the internet. This situation brought along the uncontrolledness in the same house, ”he said.
“THE PROCESSES AHEAD WILL NOT BE BADDER COMPARED TO THE PAST”
Stating that he was familiar with the epidemic, Özen said, “We overcame the cultural shock in the first month of the epidemic. After this process, we need to construct a new life and a new cultural world such as how we can live healthier, how we can construct socialization. The upcoming processes will not be worse than the past. It will be much more difficult for us to treat psychological problems. This process can be somewhat easier to overcome with family counselors and psychologists. We see that people cannot get psychological support during their isolation, ”he said.
