Otorhinolaryngology Specialist Assoc. Dr. Vural Fidan told Anadolu Agency (AA) that seasonal differences cause hormonal changes in people.

Fidan stated that apart from the activities during the day, there were also differences in the sleep pattern.

Stating that the changes in the sunrise and sunset times affect the metabolism and thus the sleep pattern, Fidan continued his words as follows:

“During the daytime and nighttime periods that extend into the summer, sleep patterns must be reshaped. People should reorganize their work and education processes according to their sleep and wakefulness hours.
Especially in the spring, allergies can disrupt the sleep pattern. In situations that we call ‘seasonal allergic rhinitis’, our sleep patterns can be divided depending on nasal congestion during the night and at certain periods during the day.

For this reason, our sleep health may be interrupted. In order to minimize this effect, we recommend that people take outdoor walks and benefit from daylight even if it is not too long during the day.

After sunset, it should go to sleep around 22:00, including adults. “

Fidan explained that disrupting sleep time can lead to a decrease in daily activity and work success.

“Those who show signs of allergy should be evaluated by otolaryngologists”

Assoc. Dr. Vural Fidan reminded that when the flowers bloom in the spring, pollen spreads around.

Stating that pollen can cause problems such as nasal congestion, frequent sneezing and nasal itching in those with sensitivity, Fidan said, “In nasal congestion, sleep interruption may occur due to the inability of the person to breathe at night.

Those who think they have allergies and those who show signs of allergy such as nasal congestion, frequent sneezing, nasal itching, and water discharge from the nose should definitely be evaluated by otolaryngologists. Some of these patients may need medication. This treatment emerges as an important point for both general body and sleep health. “
