Causes of a runny nose?

What Is Good For A Runny Nose?

A runny nose often stands out as one of the most disturbing symptoms of a cold. There are some applications that are good for nasal discharge and can be done at home. Some of these applications are:

– Taking a steam bath: Breathing hot steam is among the practices that help reduce nasal discharge. For the steam bath, inhalation by dropping 3-4 drops of various oils into boiling water plays a role in increasing the effectiveness of the application. For this, eucalyptus, rosemary, tea tree, mint, pine, sage, and thyme oil can be preferred.

– Drinking plenty of fluids: If there are symptoms of nasal congestion along with a runny nose, it is very important to drink plenty of fluids.

– Drinking hot herbal teas: Herbal teas that are drunk hot generally provide more benefits than cold drinks for runny nose. Teas containing herbs with anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic properties such as ginger, chamomile, mint or nettle can be preferred.

– Turmeric: It contains effects that benefit many health problems, including nasal discharge. Turmeric has powerful antioxidant, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and antiviral properties. Therefore, it has a very effective structure in the treatment of colds along with a runny nose. To relieve a runny nose, a teaspoon of turmeric powder can be mixed with a glass of hot milk and consumed before going to bed.

Garlic: Having antibacterial and antiseptic properties, garlic is boiled in a few glasses of water for a few minutes with three or four cloves of chopped. The mixture prepared by adding some sugar on it is drunk twice a day.

– Ginger: It has properties that relieve nasal discharge that can be seen for various reasons. Chewing a piece of ginger sprinkled on it raw 2 to 3 times a day provides a result that has an effect on relieving a runny nose. For ginger tea, fresh ginger root is cut into thin slices and a glass of boiling water is added. The ginger tea prepared in this way is left to brew for 3-4 minutes. Then, it is sweetened and drunk by adding some honey. Drinking ginger tea three or four times a day creates a relaxing effect on runny nose.
