Do not chew on objects such as pencils. Avoid chewing too much gum, as it makes your jaw muscles more accustomed to clenching and increases your likelihood of grinding your teeth. Educate yourself not to clench or grind your teeth. If you notice that you are squeezing or grinding during the day, place the tip of your tongue between your teeth. This practice trains your jaw muscles to relax. Relax your jaw muscles at night by holding a warm cloth on your cheek in front of your earlobe. “
