Dr. Diğdem Yıldız stated that the symptoms that should be evaluated together with dizziness and balance disorder in the diagnosis of vertigo are tinnitus, pressure sensation in the ear, hearing problems, nausea and vomiting, abnormal eye movements, double vision, tendency to sleep, confusion, coordination disorder, strength in the arms and legs. Emphasizing that after the diagnosis of vertigo, necessary research should be carried out on the problems that cause balance mechanism disorders in patients. Dr. Yıldız said, “Migraines, bleeding in the central nervous system or nutritional disorders due to occlusions in blood vessels, multiple sclerosis, various brain tumors, Parkinson’s disease, etc. may cause the balance to deteriorate.
Stating that detailed medical history and physical examination are an important part of the diagnosis in patients who apply to hospitals with vertigo complaints, Uzm. Dr. Digdem Yildiz said;
“While taking the medical history, information is obtained from the patient about how long the complaints have lasted, how the problem of vertigo experienced with changing positions is related, what are the accompanying diseases and drugs used, and whether there has been any head trauma. It is learned whether neurological problems such as blurring of consciousness, speech disorder and sleepiness are also accompanied. With some blood tests and imaging techniques such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computerized tomography (CT), color Doopler USG, further investigations can be made on the underlying problem.
